Located just steps away from intimate shops, galleries, restaurants, and — perhaps most importantly — the beach, this modern, roadside retreat channels old-school California living at its finest.
Hotel Carmel, managed by the fantastic folks at Marc + Rose Hospitality, offers guests a homely experience with a charming coastal vibe. I actually had the pleasure of staying at one of their other properties, The Laguna Beach House, years ago, and I remember how amazed I was by their hospitality back then. It’s truly remarkable how they keep up with the warmness and service, despite the different locations and years apart from my visit. Their welcoming vibe and excellent service set them apart from others.
The hotel features Big Sur modern and Carmel-by-the-Sea cottage architecture throughout its property, creating a cozy atmosphere. Guests can feel at home by the fireplace in any of the 14 rooms or gather around the courtyard’s fire pit for some wine and storytelling with fellow travelers.
Hotel Carmel offers 30 spacious and inviting guest rooms and suites, freshly redesigned with many rooms arranged over two floors, featuring views, fireplaces, and balconies. The hotel’s design is a fusion of Big Sur modern and Carmel-by-the-Sea cottage architecture, which beautifully complements the surrounding environment.

F&B and other perks
One of the highlights of the stay is the breakfast, which is included in the package and is a real treat. Guests can indulge in a range of hearty classics and lighter options, accompanied by a glass of Cremant. You can imagine munching on granola with yogurt and berries, sipping champagne, and engaging in conversations with fellow guests. It’s pure bliss!
In the afternoon, guests can enjoy complimentary cookies, a feature that I remember from the Laguna Beach House. Additionally, there is a wine happy hour from 4-6.30 pm every day, which offers guests delicious free red and white wine. The hotel’s restaurant, Brophy’s Tavern, is a hidden gem, serving hearty and delicious food, and staffed by friendly personnel. Whether you’re catching a game, playing some pool, or simply soaking up the laid-back atmosphere, Brophy’s Tavern has it all.

Verdict
In conclusion, I had an absolutely fantastic experience during my stay at Hotel Carmel. The hotel’s cozy and inviting design immediately made me feel at home, and the warm hospitality extended by the staff made my stay all the more memorable. I cannot wait to return to this wonderful hotel and create more unforgettable memories.
