I'm back, with tales from my recent weekend getaway to the picturesque Carmel by the Sea. If you're a fan of charming coastal towns and unforgettable experiences, keep reading because this trip was an absolute dream come true!

I’ve visited Carmel multiple times before, but I never got to stay overnight, so this was a first, thanks to a lovely collaboration with The Hotel Carmel, courtesy of Marc & Rose Hospitality. It was an absolute dream come true! The hotel was incredibly charming and the staff so hospitable and welcoming. I did write a separate blog post about the hotel here.

We arrived right in time for wine happy hour at Hotel Carmel that is happening daily from 4-6.30. Sipping wine while watching the sun dip below the horizon was the perfect way to start our trip. Afterward, we headed over to Brophy’s, the in-house tavern at Hotel Carmel, for dinner and drinks. The food was hearty and just perfect after a day on the road. Brophy’s is your typical sports bar or tavern, and you can easily spend a night here and play games with friends, turn on the jukebox, or just enjoy their casual drinks at the bar.

Carmel by the Sea

The next morning, we were treated to a delightful champagne breakfast included in our stay at Hotel Carmel. With the sun shining bright and the promise of adventure in the air, we wasted no time and headed straight to the beach for some much-needed relaxation and Vitamin Sea.

But let me tell you about the culinary delights that awaited us! Marc & Rose Hospitality hooked us up with dinner at Bud’s, the fantastic restaurant and bar at La Playa Carmel. Delicious food, amazing cocktails, and a sunset view that took our breath away—it was like something out of a fairy tale!

The following day, we explored Carmel’s charming streets filled with galleries and couldn’t resist stopping by Stationæry for a cup of coffee to fuel our adventures.

Carmel is truly a warm and welcoming town that captures your heart the moment you step onto its cobblestone pathways. As we strolled, we couldn’t help but be captivated by the storybook cottages, lush gardens, and whimsical galleries that adorned the streets. Each building seemed to have a unique tale to tell, and we were eager listeners.

One of the highlights of our walk was discovering hidden nooks and crannies that make Carmel so special. We followed secret pathways and discovered tucked-away courtyards, feeling like we had stepped into a fairy tale. But the real magic of Carmel lies in its artistic soul. Everywhere we looked, we were surrounded by bursts of creativity and inspiration. From vibrant murals splashed across walls to sculptures peeking out from gardens, art seemed to be woven into the very fabric of the town.

Point Lobos Trail

Feeling energized, we set off for a hike at Point Lobos, where we were treated to stunning views of the coastline and rugged cliffs.

Known as the “crown jewel” of California’s state parks, Point Lobos is a nature lover’s paradise. As we hiked along the trails, we were treated to jaw-dropping views of rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and the shimmering Pacific Ocean.

Every step along the Point Lobos Trail felt like a discovery, with each turn revealing a new vista more stunning than the last. We couldn’t help but stop and soak in the beauty around us, from the twisted Cypress trees to the crashing waves below.

Point Lobos: The Sea Wolves Calling

A highlight of our hike was reaching the Cypress Grove Trail, home to the iconic “Ghost Tree” and towering cypress trees. Walking among these ancient giants was like stepping into another world, and we were in awe of the tranquility and majesty of the forest.

But the adventure didn’t end there. After bidding farewell to Point Lobos, we hit the road for the legendary 17-Mile Drive. This scenic route winds its way along the coast, offering panoramic views of Pebble Beach, the Lone Cypress, and more.

17 Mile Drive

With each mile, we found ourselves stopping to admire the scenery and snap photos of the rugged coastline. Whether we were marveling at the lone sentinel of the Lone Cypress or exploring the charming nooks of Carmel Highlands, the drive was filled with wonder and exploration.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the landscape, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the day’s adventures. The Point Lobos Trail and 17-Mile Drive had left us feeling inspired and rejuvenated, with memories that would last a lifetime.

Reflecting on our time spent in nature’s embrace, we were reminded of the power of the great outdoors to awe and inspire. Carmel by the Sea may be known for its quaint streets and luxurious amenities, but it’s the untouched beauty of its natural surroundings that truly stole our hearts. Until next time, Point Lobos and 17-Mile Drive, you’ll always hold a special place in our memories.
